Cheri Harris
Fundraising Coordinator

My name is Cheri Harris also known as Cheri Murff. I was born on July 2, 1961 and raised in Chicago. I am the oldest of four and the only girl. I grew up in Ida B Wells and Lawless Gardens Housing, but currently residing in Country Club Hills. I attended Doolittle East & West Elementary and Wendell Phillips High School where I graduated with honors. I have a bachelor degree in Architecture from Prairie View A&M University in Texas a HBCU, and another bachelor's degree in Interior Design from Harrington College of Design in Chicago. I also have Master degrees in Business and Project Management. I am a proud member of the illustrious Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. where I serve on the Physical and Mental Health Committee and PADS, an organization serving the homeless.
When I am not working as the Associate Director of Compliance and Move-in Coordination at my family's assisted living facility, I am promoting Black Social Awareness, giving back to the community, mentoring youths, or volunteering as a Tour Guide for the DuSable Museum of African Arts. I also serve on the Wendell Phillips Reunion committee and I'm a member of Group 39, a social group for those of us who grew up on the low end of Chicago.
My favorite past times include dancing, creating artwork, dining, traveling, planning events, and participating in public service events. I love music, the arts and I am planning to open an Art Gallery and fine arts school for youths all while starting my own interior design and event planning business. I'm affectionately called "Murff" or "Muffin" and I am looking forward to promoting events and giving parties with the lovely ladies and gents of Strictly Steppin'.
